How to Advertise Your Business in Ghana on a Small Budget (2026)

Advertise with real creators in Ghana — or get paid to share adverts.

Most advertising advice assumes a budget you do not have. This is written for the shop in Madina, the caterer in Tema, the tailor in Kumasi - businesses with a few hundred cedis, not a few hundred thousand. Here is what each channel really costs in Ghana in 2026, and where small money goes furthest.

    What things actually cost

    • Radio, 30-second spot: GH₵200 to GH₵500. Drive time, 6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm, costs the most.
    • Entertainment or news blog post: GH₵200 to GH₵1,000 depending on the site's real traffic.
    • Nano creator post, 1,000 to 5,000 followers: about 10 to 40 dollars.
    • Micro creator post, 5,000 to 50,000 followers: about 40 to 150 dollars.
    • Celebrity post, 300,000+ followers: 1,500 dollars and upwards.
    • WhatsApp Status placement: a small fee per person who posts - the cheapest unit on this list.

The rule that saves small budgets

Never buy reach you cannot convert. A radio spot heard by 50,000 people across Greater Accra is worth less to a Kasoa food joint than 300 people in Kasoa seeing it on a neighbour's Status. Small budgets win by being narrow, not by being loud.

The corollary: define your catchment before you spend anything. If your customers come from within a few kilometres, every cedi spent outside that radius is wasted.

    GH₵200: one focused push

At this level you have one shot, so make it local. Spend it on creator placements in your own area - people posting your offer to their own WhatsApp contacts. You will get a handful of placements, all inside your catchment, each carrying an implicit recommendation from somebody the viewer knows.

What not to do with GH₵200: buy a single radio spot. One spot is not a campaign - people need repetition before they act, and one spot gives them none.

    GH₵1,000: a real week

Now you can run something that looks like a campaign. Put the bulk into a wave of creator placements concentrated into two or three days, so your offer appears repeatedly in the same feeds rather than trickling out over a month. Keep a portion back for whichever creators performed, and repeat with them.

If your business genuinely suits it - a school, a clinic, an event - consider one blog placement at the GH₵200 to GH₵400 end for the credibility of being written about, and link to it from everything else.

    GH₵5,000: layers

At GH₵5,000 you can combine channels, which is where advertising starts compounding. A sensible split: roughly half on creator placements running across three weeks, a quarter on off-peak radio on the single station your customers actually listen to, and a quarter held back for whatever works.

The held-back quarter is the part most businesses skip and most need. You will not know which channel worked until week two. Spending everything before you have that information is the most expensive mistake at this budget.

    Measuring without a marketing department

You do not need analytics software. You need one question asked consistently: how did you hear about us. Write the answers in a notebook for a month. Use a different phone number or a code word for each channel if you can. After four weeks you will know more about your own advertising than most Ghanaian businesses ever learn.

Where the money is usually wasted

    • Buying followers or likes. They are not customers, platforms remove them, and no one has ever bought bread because a page had 10,000 likes.
    • One-off spots. Repetition is what works. One radio advert, one post, one flyer drop - all money gone.
    • Paying for reach outside your catchment.
    • Boosting a post with no offer in it. Boosting spreads the message; it cannot fix a message that gives people no reason to act.

Say what you actually want people to do

The most common failure in Ghanaian small-business advertising is not the budget or the channel. It is an advert that shows a nice photo and a business name and asks the viewer for nothing. Put the offer, the location and the phone number in every placement. Then the small budget has something to do.

Advertise Through Real Creators in Ghana

Businesses place an advert and set a fee per placement. Creators share it with their own audience, labelled as an advert, and are paid to their MoMo wallet.
